Carrie Wintle, former Miss South Dakota and Miss America candidate grew up in the beautiful farmland of South Dakota. Her passion for accounting and business brought her to Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee where she met Andrew Granger through mutual friends. Andrew, a natural leader and Tennessee native, fell quickly in love with the green eyed beauty. When Carrie’s family came to visit them in Nashville for the first time, they stayed in the historic Hermitage Hotel, making it an easy decision to plan their wedding reception there. The couple’s strong Christian faith led them to Wightman Chapel at Scarritt Bennett Center for the wedding ceremony.
Carrie and Andrew were intentional about sharing their faith with their guests, so they incorporated communion and a family prayer during the ceremony. Their choice to save their first look for the altar did not disappoint when Andrew’s reaction captured everyone’s hearts as Dr. Wintle proudly escorted his daughter down the aisle.
Carrie expressed that she loved the Christmas season and with a December 16th date, the Hermitage Hotel was the perfect setting for a classic Tennessee Christmas wedding. Inspired by the warm and magical ambiance of the lobby, simple decor to accent the beauty of the season was the vision from the very beginning. As if The Hermitage Hotel isn’t iconic already, the award winning restrooms could not be missed. Add Carrie and Andrew’s wedding party to the list of celebrities from John F. Kennedy and Elvis who have visited this Nashville must-see.
Continuing the thread of the Hermitage Hotel lobby, the invitations, designed by White Ink Calligraphy, were inspired by the ornate detail in the ceiling. The monogram on the belly band wrap and the elaborate detail of the room also inspired the wedding cake. Standing at five tiers, Jo West of Jo’s Custom Cakes, designed an iconic and delicious white fondant cake with a whisper of shine.
When designing the ballroom, the glow of Christmas was an important feeling to accomplish. The classic Christmas trees accompanied by gold tones were essential in bringing the warmth of the room to life. The shine of the champagne linens brought a sophistication to the room, while the knotted napkin wrapped the plate like a gift. LMA Designs created magnolia garland runners on the tables which resembled the ceremony altar at Scarritt Bennett Center. Their designs were the perfect combination of classic white Christmas with a feminine flair, carrying on the beauty of a tender Tennessee Christmas wedding.
To end the beautiful night, Carrie and Andrew drove away in his uncle’s red convertible to a bubble sendoff with their closest family and friends sending the newlyweds off with joy.
